The Rise of Regional Shows and Events

Vicky Fontaine, VP Client Engagement

As the events industry evolves, regional shows and events are gaining momentum. These localized gatherings offer unique opportunities for exhibitors, attendees, and organizers alike, making them an attractive alternative to large-scale national conventions. Let’s explore the trends driving this shift, along with the benefits and challenges they present.

Regional events are considered by many for the following reasons:

Cost Efficiency

Regional events often come with lower participation costs, including reduced exhibitor fees and travel expenses.

Targeted Audiences

These events attract attendees with specific interests tied to the region, leading to more meaningful interactions and higher-quality leads.

Improved Accessibility

With less travel required, regional events are convenient and time-efficient, appealing to both exhibitors and attendees. This inclusivity extends opportunities to smaller businesses and individuals with tighter budgets.

Sustainability Focus

Regional shows support sustainability efforts by reducing the carbon footprint of long-distance travel and shipping while boosting local economies.

Flexibility and Frequency

With shorter planning cycles, regional events allow for quicker pivots in response to market needs. Their smaller scale also enables companies to participate in multiple events throughout the year.

Hybrid Integration

Combining in-person experiences with virtual components expands the reach of regional events, blending the best of both worlds.

Stronger Relationships

Regional shows foster community and trust through repeated, localized interactions, strengthening relationships with clients and partners.

Post-Pandemic Preferences

Smaller events are perceived as safer and more manageable, especially in a world still adapting to new health and safety standards.

As we consider hosting regional events, we come across the following pros and cons:

PROS OF REGIONAL EVENTS

Cost-effective Engagement

Lower fees and travel costs make these events accessible to more participants, particularly for smaller businesses or those with limited budgets. This affordability can encourage higher participation rates, leading to a vibrant and dynamic event atmosphere.

Targeted Reach

Exhibitors connect with a highly relevant audience, often leading to higher conversion rates. Regional events are designed to cater to local interests and needs, enabling businesses to deliver tailored solutions and messages that resonate with attendees.

CONS OF REGIONAL EVENTS

Ultimately, the key is finding the right balance.  Regional shows and events offer a promising pathway for companies seeking cost-effective, targeted, and sustainable engagement. However, balancing the benefits against the challenges requires strategic planning. Companies must carefully consider their goals, resources, and audience preferences to make the most of these opportunities.

As this trend continues to grow, regional events will likely play a pivotal role in shaping the future of the events industry. By embracing their unique advantages and addressing their challenges, businesses can harness the power of regional shows to build stronger connections and achieve lasting success.

Elevating Your Brand Story with Technology

On the busy trade show floor, how can you ensure your brand story stands out and your product is remembered? Immersive technologies and new products are taking the exhibit experience to new heights, boosting customer engagement and creating touchpoints that are fresh, surprising, and ultimately, unforgettable.

Integrated products and tech solutions are turning static booths into captivating experiences, and elevating brands in new and exciting ways. Tempting as it is to use everything, everywhere, all at once, it’s not a one-size-fits-all application. Thoughtful consideration of when and how to use each integration ensures that our clients showcase their story organically and stay true to their brand.

Plan with a Purpose

Identifying the purpose of each brand activation is an essential part of the planning and ideation phase. What story are you hoping to tell about your company and brand? Are you launching a new product? Defining your objectives will help to shape the experience you are creating for your audience and inform the types of integrations that make sense for each event.

Your goals will guide your strategic approach, shaping your exhibit design, content choices, and of course, technology integration. The tools you choose to incorporate should help generate buzz around your exhibit and draw in customers, but also feel authentic to your brand to strike the right tone. With this in mind, we’ve selected three incredible products that, when properly executed, exemplify the benefits of technology integration. Read on to learn more.

Swipeable Screens & Tactile Touchscreens

Companies like Ideum and MultiTaction are transforming screens into immersive digital tools that tell stories and maximize audience engagement through touchable screens. Built to be used in social environments, touch tables encourage interaction through the irresistible allure of bright colors and intuitive screens, transforming passive visitors into active participants – even recognizing physical objects when they’re placed upon them. Whether you’re showcasing a dynamic product catalog, offering a touch-driven presentation, or gamifying your content for increased engagement, these displays provide an interactive stage for your story.

Hypnotizing Holograms

Once reserved for celebrities and artists, holographic technology is making its way onto the trade show scene and bringing with it endless opportunities. Besides the wow-factor impact, holographic technologies like Proto and HYPERSVN go beyond flashy experiences and can serve as tools to educate visitors and amplify your narrative. With the power to project a real-life, real-size, holographic display, simulate product interactions, and provide a personalized experience, holograms offer an opportunity to surprise and delight customers while delivering your brand message.

Showstopping (LED) Screens

Looking to inspire curiosity and connect with customers? Larger than life LED panels are an amazing way to make a statement while showcasing your brand content and creativity. Products from retailers like Dynamix-Pro and BeMatrix LED offer powerful visuals while providing adaptable infrastructure and content options. A big screen is an incomparable canvas to show off customized, relevant content – videos, animations, infographics – and can speak volumes about your brand and form an integral part of your narrative. Good content – illuminated by the power of pixels and light – creates connection, sparks conversations, and drives engagement, making the technology and design aspects of your exhibit even more impactful. Our recent integration for OwnBackup at DreamForce utilized BeMatrix curved geometric tiles to emulate an oversized book – creating a customized and eye-catching experience for visitors.

Make Tech Work for You

Technology integration for exhibits is not about tacking on the latest gadget or gimmick to your existing structure; it’s about amplifying your brand story and captivating your audience to create a lasting impact. When thoughtfully selected and seamlessly integrated, tech-forward products can serve as the foundation of a customer-centric marketing strategy, and provide a unified, engaging, and memorable trade show experience.

Every element you choose to incorporate – from creative content to technology and design – is an opportunity to shine. Making sure your exhibit rings true not only to your brand but to your

Flexible Forms: Maximize Your Creativity with Hybrid Design

Vicky Fontaine, VP Client Engagement

When it comes to channeling the freshest ideas, we’re always looking for ways to maximize client budgets while showcasing brands in the most innovative and engaging ways possible. The emergence of the hybrid model in trade show design – an exhibit that incorporates both custom and modular display components – is fast becoming the preferred approach, and with good reason. Not only do hybrid exhibits allow for increased flexibility while reducing production time, they also free up valuable budget, which can be used to create high-impact, wow-factor elements that truly set your brand apart. Read on for some of the ways hybrid design is changing our approach to trade shows.

Increased Flexibility

With hybrid design, flexibility comes standard. Different specs, different shows, different business segments? No problem. With the shift to a hybrid model, rental components provide a library of possibilities. Rental inventory from aluminum panels and light boxes to cabinets and furniture – customizable for each show – sets the foundation, while meaningful brand components and design elements are layered on for a truly custom experience. The best part? Your investment can be dialed up or down depending on the engagement. Add in custom materials, AV integrations and graphics, and you have a polished, on-brand exhibit for any show.

Tricky Timelines

We get it. The deadline was yesterday. Time is short and when it comes to trade show deadlines and custom build-outs, somehow it seems even shorter.

Many of our clients come to us late in the cycle, seeking a unique solution for an upcoming event. If time is an issue, the hybrid approach provides more options than ever before. By using existing inventory as the building blocks for a design, we can reduce the production timeline and offer bespoke design elements to create an exhibit that is sleek, seamless, and on time to boot.

A Canvas for Creativity

When the foundation of your exhibit is sourced from rental inventory, the balance becomes a canvas for creativity. Rather than spending the majority on booth infrastructure, budget can be funneled into high-impact pieces that provide increased value and amplify brand messaging through impactful, tech-forward design. From illuminated 3D logos to AV integrations, textured finishes and touchscreen capabilities, innovation takes center stage.

Leaning into Logistics

The hybrid approach extends its efficiencies to logistics as well. Having multiple production and warehouse facilities allows display materials and equipment to be sourced when and where they’re needed, enhancing sustainability and improving shipping efficiencies. For us, fully-stocked warehouses in Massachusetts and Nevada allow our operation to source and ship materials based on proximity and schedule.

Finding the Balance

Hybrid design offers a multitude of tangible benefits and we are seeing them at work. Our recent engagement with Sharp NEC Display Solutions provided a real-world opportunity to develop a high-end exhibit that seamlessly combined rental materials with custom elements. Using this approach not only reduced costs and accelerated setup but also allowed the team to focus on creating new high quality elements, including projection mapped hanging signage content and custom reception desk cabinetry.

Our partner at Sharp NEC, Keith Yanke, was enthusiastic about the benefits of hybrid design and shared his thoughts after the event.

“By seamlessly integrating efficient rental materials with custom elements, they have revolutionized our exhibiting experience. This ‘hybrid’ approach has not only reduced costs and accelerated setup but also ensured our exhibit remains exceptionally custom and high-end.”

Beyond the versatility of using modular components through shared materials, hybrid design offers a refreshing approach to the exhibit development process. By freeing up resources, we can access new levels of creativity and design while simultaneously furthering our objective: to create unforgettable brand experiences that tell your story.

The Future of Hybrid Design

At Elevation3D, our team is embracing innovation. With the partnership of our clients, we can turn our exhibits into platforms that showcase our commitment to hybrid design while delivering engaging and memorable experiences. The future of trade show design is flexible, innovative, and exciting – let’s embrace it together. To learn more about creating a hybrid exhibit for your next trade show or event, click here.
