Massachusetts’ based Niche Hospitality Group owns and operates several restaurants and bars that are currently closed due to COVID-19 restrictions. With Governor Baker’s most recent announcement about re-opening businesses in phases, Niche owner Michael Covino is partnering with Elevation3D to develop custom protective safeguards to open doors at all of their restaurant locations.

It is still to be determined which part of the phase restaurants and bars will be slated to open, and at what capacity, but Covino acknowledged there is a lead time necessary to re-open any of their locations. In an effort to get ahead of the announcement with an official date for re-opening, Covino is partnering with Elevation3D to build the best custom solutions to fit each location while adhering to proper social distancing requirements.

“We need seven to 10 days of a heads up with the exact guidelines for the opening,” Covino said.

Niche Hospitality Group brands are a staple of Central Massachusetts, particularly Worcester County. With many local businesses struggling amid the COVID-19 pandemic and subsequent business restrictions, Covino acknowledges that staying open for limited services, such as take-out only, are not only for profitability, but more importantly for brand awareness.

“It’s more of an amenity to keep the brand relevant,” Covino said. “If I wait for when it’s the right time for Mezcal to get close to what it used to be, that will be a year.”
